LaGrange Appreciation Day Features Whey Jennings Concert

LaGrange annual Appreciation Day will be held July 4, and a big evening is planned. The event had been cancelled the last couple of years due to Covid. All events will take place in downtown LaGrange.

Vendors will be set up and ready to go around 4 p.m. Vendors will be set up across from City Hall. Line up for the parade will be at the Mark Twain Casino Parking east parking lot beginning at 4:30 p.m. The Parade begins at 5:30 p.m. will proceed north on Main Street to Monroe Street. Parking is restricted on Main Street from South Street to Monroe Street during the parade. Parking will also be closed from South Street to Washington Street until after the fireworks display. Handicap parking is available at the lot directly north of Town and Country Bank. Inflatable games, face painting and other activities will also be featured.

The LaGrange Lions Club will be serving food in their air-conditioned building. The menu features ribeye sandwiches, butterfly pork sandwiches, hot dogs and brats. Serving begins at 4:30 p.m.

The stage will be set up at Mineral Well Park. A free concert featuring County music star Whey Jennings will begin at 8 p.m. Whey Jennings is the grandson of Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter. Whey Jennings recently released a new song, “This One’s For You”, in honor of his late grandfather Waylon. He also pays tribute to his grandfather during his concerts and also has original songs and country and blues favorites that are crowd pleasers. The band, Shakey Ground, starts off the night of music, playing from 6:30 to 7:30. The fireworks will begin at dark after the Jennings concert.

LaGrange Mayor Bob Corbin will have announcements and honor Veterans beginning at 6:15. Everyone is invited and encouraged to bring lawn chairs for seating.
