Marina PD involved in late-night standoff, neighbors evacuated for 6 hours
The Marina Police Department was involved in a multi-hour standoff with a man threatening to kill officers, Tuesday night.
According to police, officers contacted Tony Hernandez outside of his home on Reindollar Ave., near California Ave., around 6:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a person violating a court order.
Police reported that Hernandez picked up a bat and threatened to kill officers when they arrived on the scene. Hernandez then entered the home and barricaded himself inside.
The Monterey Peninsula Regional Response Unit and Monterey County Behavior Health were called to an area after the situation lasted for nearly an hour.
Neighbors were asked to evacuate the area and they were kept from their homes for nearly six hours.
Hernandez was taken into custody and booked into the Monterey County Jail.
