The Oklahoma State Cowboys have added the Murray State Racers to their 2026 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.

A copy of the football game contract with Oklahoma State University was obtained from Murray State University via a state open records request.

Oklahoma State will host Murray State at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Okla., on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026. The Cowboys will pay the Racers a $450,000 guarantee for playing the contest, according to the copy of the contract.

Oklahoma State and Murray State have never met on the gridiron.

Murray State is currently a member of the Ohio Valley Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). However, the Racers are moving to the Missouri Valley Football Conference beginning with the 2023 season.

Murray State is the third and final non-conference opponent for the Oklahoma State Cowboys in 2026. The Cowboys are scheduled to open the season on the road against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Sept. 5 and will host the Oregon Ducks in Stillwater on Sept. 12, one week prior to the Murray State contest.

Other FCS opponents that Oklahoma State has on their future schedules include Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2022), Central Arkansas (2023), and Western Illinois (2027).

Oklahoma State is the first scheduled non-conference opponent for Murray State for the 2026 season.

Murray State now has nine future games scheduled against Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) competition. Other opponents include Texas Tech and Ball State in 2022, Louisville in 2023, Missouri and Kentucky in 2024, Georgia State and Jacksonville State in 2025, and Kentucky in 2027.
