The Northwestern State Demons and the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks have scheduled a home-and-home football series for the 2023 and 2025 seasons, FBSchedules.com has learned.

A copy of the contract with Stephen F. Austin University was obtained from Northwestern State University via a state public records request.

In the first game of the series, Northwestern State will host Stephen F. Austin at Harry Turpin Stadium in Natchitoches, La., on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023. The series will conclude two seasons later when the Demons travel to face the Lumberjacks at Homer Bryce Stadium in Nacogdoches, Texas, on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025.

Northwestern State and Stephen F. Austin first met on the gridiron in 1924 and have played a total of 76 contests. In their most recent matchup in 2019, the Lumberjacks defeated the Demons 32-20, but the Demons still lead the overall series 46-27-3.

The Demons’ 2023 slate also includes a pair of in-state road contests against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns on Sept. 2 and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on Sept. 9.

In 2025, Northwestern State is scheduled to host the Alcorn State Braves on Aug. 30.

Stephen F. Austin’s 2023 slate also includes a road contest against the Troy Trojans on Sept. 2 and a home tilt with Alcorn State on Sept. 9.

The Lumberjacks now have five non-conference contests scheduled for the 2025 season. Stephen F. Austin will host the Nicholls Colonels (Sept. 6) and the Montana State Bobcats (Sept. 13) and will travel to play the Kansas Jayhawks (Aug. 30) and the Austin Peay Governors (Sept. 20).
