Marshfield Police Department Investigating Potential Hate Crime

Wednesday, June 29th, 2022 -- 2:00 PM

The Marshfield Police Department is investigating a potential hate crime.

During the overnight hours of June 26th and 27th, several residents in the Marshfield area reported that antisemetic flyers had been left in their driveways. The Department stated on their Facebook page that If you received this type of pamphlet, please let them know by calling 715-387-4394 and filing a complaint.

Also, they are looking for any information on the person (or people) who placed the materials on the lawns.  So, they welcome any help that you can provide.  Any witnesses, Ring Camera footage, or any other information is welcome.  Please feel free to message them on Facebook, or call 715-387-4394 and ask to speak with an officer.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, condemned the distribution of antisemitic flyers.

“We condemn this vile, antisemitic attempt to intimidate Jewish community members and to spread hatred and division,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.

“We applaud law enforcement authorities for investigating this disturbing incident.” He said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and other forms of bigotry.
