ADA (KDLM/MNN) – An Ada farmer is calling the current price environment “stressful.”
Austen Germolus grows corn, soybeans, wheat, and barley, and has a registered herd of British White cattle near Ada. He says it’s wild watching the markets, “One day to the next you don’t know what to expect. But I think we’re still at a very profitable level.”
Germolus says planning for next year is causing a lot of stress too, “Pre-pay for fertilizer in our area actually dropped off quite a bit, but there’s talk that by the time September, October, and November come around we could see urea and MAP prices really skyrocket again.”
Germolus says fuel is also very costly and he doesn’t expect a reprieve from those prices anytime soon.
