NOLA violence: 3 shootings 1 homicide, 2 carjackings, and 1 armed robbery in one day

More violence in New Orleans contributes to the struggle The New Orleans Police Department and New Orleans city leaders face as they try to get a grip on the crime problem in the city.

Tuesday was a violent day with three shootings, one homicide, and three armed robberies.

Shootings

A juvenile shot a man in the 14000 block of Hayne Boulevard at about 3:41 p.m. says an NOPD report.

The victim and the juvenile suspect were involved in a verbal altercation when the juvenile shot the man in the right arm. The victim was transported to the hospital.
The juvenile was later identified and arrested by police.

A woman was shot at the corner of Almonaster Avenue and North Prieur Street.

Police say an unknown suspect in a gray vehicle opened fire. The victim was struck once in the left leg and the suspect fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital by EMS.

Then on the corner of Congress Drive and Columbia Street a man was shot says police.

They say the suspects emerged from a vehicle and began firing shots at the victim. The man was struck by the gunfire and was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.

Armed Robbery

The NOPD is investigating two armed robberies which also happened on Tuesday.

An employee at a business in the 2100 block of Canton Street was robbed by a gunman.

According to the police report, the male suspect entered the business and pointed a handgun at an employee. The suspect then demanded the employee place money in a backpack. The employee complied and the suspect fled.

Carjacking

A man was carjacked at gunpoint in the 1400 block of North Broad Avenue.

Police say the victim was removing items from his vehicle when the suspect entered the driver’s side of his vehicle, pointed a weapon, and then drove off in the man’s white 2017 Honda Ridgeline.

Then later, a woman was carjacked in the 6800 block of Lake Kenilworth Drive.

The victim was approached from behind by a man who then demanded the victim's personal property at gunpoint. The victim complied and the suspect fled in the victim's 2019 silver Kia Forte.

Homicide

NOPD says an unknown person shot dead a man in the 1700 block of Abundance Street. The NOPD says officers responded to the shooting at the location where they found the victim unresponsive. The victim was pronounced dead on scene by EMS.
