CENTRALIA, IL — A 42-year-old Centralia man was arrested early Monday morning when police officers reportedly found him in possession of methamphetamine and a weapon.

According to acting Police Chief Steve Writnour with the Centralia Police Department, around 2 a.m. Monday, an officer noticed an individual leaving the Huck’s Convenience Store on Calumet with an armful of items and looking back at the door of the store.

The officer found the individuals behavior odd and stopped to make contact with the individual now identified as Harlis Moulton.

Moulton told the officer he was going back to a nearby tavern but the officer told him that wasn’t possible as the bar was closed.

A search of Moulton reportedly revealed a baggie containing methamphetamine sticking out of his pocket and then two tubes down his pants that also contained meth.

The combined approximate weight of the meth was approximately 4.6 grams.

A further search reportedly revealed Moulton, a convicted felon, was carrying a Kentucky Tactical stun gun in his pocket.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail. Moulton was formally charged Tuesday in Marion County Court with Class X felony armed violence, Class 3 felony possession of less than 5 grams of meth, and Class 3 felony being a felon in possession of a weapon.
