Home prices will begin in the $600,000 range, and are expected to be available later this year.

Houston homebuilder Empire Communities broke ground on its first self-developed community in San Antonio. The development, called Everly Estates, will feature 110 homes on half-acre sites across a 92-acre swath of land.

Homes will range between 2,700 and 4,500 square feet and will offer one- and two-story options with up to six bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths. Prices will begin in the $600,000 range.

Construction on the homes will begin this summer, with homes being available for sale later in the year. The community, which is between U.S. Highway 87 and Beck Road on the city's Northeast Side, is part of the East Central Independent School District.

Another Empire Communities project, Alsatian Oaks, is set to come online around the same time as Everly Estates. These developments will bring Empire's local presence to five communities. The others are Arcadia Ridge, Cibolo Canyons and Potranco Ranch.

Empire said it sold out of several communities between 2020 and 2021. The company recently also appointed a new San Antonio division president, Ruben Gutierrez, earlier this month.

The Business Journal reported other Houston homebuilders expanding their San Antonio presence, including appointing division heads to implement their ambitious plans for the area. San Antonio's steady base of employment, infrastructure, and high demand for housing have been cited as reasons they are interested in the Alamo City.
