Homeless man struck and killed by vehicle in Alexandria

A homeless man died Tuesday night after being hit by a vehicle on Lee Street, say police.

The man, identified by the Alexandria Police Department as 65-year-old Paul Washington, was hit at the intersection of Lee Street and Thornton Court around 9:15 p.m.

The vehicle that hit him had been traveling on Lee Street. Traffic reconstruction and crime scene units responded to the scene, and the crash remains under investigation.
