A Houston woman has been taken into custody and charged with the murder of her sister, and with forcing her 13-year-old son to help her dispose of the body.

Carmen White, 38, was first arrested in February and charged with making a terroristic threat against a family member, according to the Houston Police Department. But White failed to appear in court on that charge, and on April 1, a dead body was found shot multiple times and burned in north Houston.

That victim was identified as White’s sister Cynthia Cervantes.

White became the prime suspect when police found “a significant amount of blood” in her vehicle’s rear cargo area and on an envelope located under the driver’s seat. An unidentified relative then told police that White shot Cervantes for reporting her to authorities.

An ex-boyfriend of White’s also told Houston police that White contacted him and asked for his help in moving the body in return for sexual favors. He said no.

That’s when White called her 13-year-old son home from playing at the park with his 12-year-old brother, saying she needed help moving something in her car.

“He reached down and lifted what felt like human legs, so [he] dropped the legs back to the ground,” according to court documents obtained by KPRC.

When he refused to help, White became “extremely aggressive” and her son finally assisted disposing of his aunt’s body because he “feared what she may do to him.”

White has been charged with capital murder.
