Let’s hope that folks in Southern California really like two new menu items that Taco Bell is testing.
Hopefully, the mashups with Taco Bell and Cheez-It will make it onto menus everywhere.
The Big Cheez-It Tostado is served on an oversized Cheez-It cracker - 16 times the original size. The cracker is topped with layers of seasoned beef, reduced-fat sour cream, fresh diced tomatoes, crisp lettuce and shredded cheddar cheese.
“There are few things that everyone can agree on … but the iconic flavors from Taco Bell menu items and Cheez-It snacks appeal to all,” said Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s Chief Food Innovation Officer. “We’re thrilled about this new concept with Cheez-It, which gives our fans the chance to experience the real cheese and crunch they love from both of our brands in a whole new way.”
It is only available - for now - to customers at Taco Bell in Irvine, California, for $2.49.
But wait, there’s more!
The Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme has the same fillings but the tostado shell is swapped for the Cheez-It cracker then wrapped in a grilled tortilla for $4.29. But, the crunchwrap is only available to customers who use the website or mobile app - a digital exclusive.
“This partnership is a true testament to Cheez-It’s continued success and commitment to innovation,” said Stefanie Miller, President, Away From Home, Kellogg Company. “We’re excited to incorporate Cheez-It —made with 100% real cheese — into Taco Bell favorites and deliver customers a bold, cheesy twist on the iconic chain’s go-to menu staples.”
Both are testing only at the Irvine location for two weeks while supplies last.
