GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) --The community is invited to Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City's 'Open Ramp' celebration Friday.
The Coast Guard base will open its gates to the public for the National Cherry Festival Airshow.
The Air Station’s traditional Open Ramp returns this year after the pandemic forced its cancellation for the previous two years.
The community can get access to the Coast Guard station and meet the festival air show performers, including the Navy's Blue Angels team.
Also at the Open Ramp event will be AV-8B Harriers from the Marine Corps, an F-16 Viper, A-10 Thunderbolts from the Air Force, and a historic World War II-era P-51 Mustang.
Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City will also have its own MH-60T Jayhawk helicopters at the event.
The Coast Guard Exchange, located just outside the base gate, will be open to the public from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., for those who are interested in purchasing military memorabilia and clothing.
Admission is free.
No onsite parking is available. Guests are asked to park at the Presbyterian Church on Westminster Road (off of Airport Access Road) and ride the shuttle to the event.
The shuttle will run from 5 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. every 20 minutes.
To keep security lines moving, its recommended only small purses and diaper bags be brought to the base.
Only service animals will be allowed.
