DETROIT – A 32-year-old woman is dead and her husband is in police custody after they were the victims of a home invasion Tuesday morning, June 28, in Detroit, police said.
The husband was arrested, along with two 17-year-old suspects in the break-in, because he is wanted in connection with a separate homicide, FOX 2 Detroit reports.
Detroit police officers were called to the 9200 block of Minock Street Tuesday morning for a reported home invasion, the report said. Two teen suspects are accused of breaking into the home armed with a gun and an “AR rifle,” resulting in the death of a woman, Detroit Police Chief James White said.
“It’s very possible that she was not the intended target,” White said.
The husband armed himself, disarmed one suspect and shot the second, the chief said. The second suspect escaped on a stolen bicycle but ended up at a local hospital in critical condition. The husband held the first suspect at gunpoint until police arrived. One of the teens was living at the residence for at least the past few days.
This case is under investigation. No further information has been released.
