Original Release 6/29/22:

Shooting in Northwest Spokane sends 2 juveniles to the hospital

At approximately 12:45am, Spokane police officers responded to the Dwight Merkel Sports Complex 5701 N Assembly St after receiving multiple 911 calls about a large fight which led to a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located two juvenile males (ages 15 and 16) who had both sustained gunshot wounds. Officers began providing medical aid until the arrival of Spokane Fire Department and AMR personnel who took over care. The victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

SPD is still in the preliminary stages of this investigation. It appears there was a large gathering of juveniles at the park and a fight broke out amongst them. The shooting occurred shortly thereafter. There is no suspect information to release at this time. If you have further information about this incident and have not already spoken to law enforcement, we ask that you call Crime Check 509-456-2233 and reference case number 2022-20110525.
