The Alliance Review

MOSQUITO SPRAYING – Alliance City Health Department plans mosquito spraying on Thursday in city parks, water and wastewater treatment plants and areas adjacent to the Mahoning River. Spraying will be 8 p.m. to 11 pm. Low temperatures, rain or wind could postpone spraying. Beekeepers are advised to protect their hives and those with respiratory problems may choose to stay inside. Health Department officials advised residents to avoid outdoor activities between dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active; to wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts, shoes and socks; use EPA-registered mosquito repellent and follow the label directions; and to install or repair screens on windows and doors to keep mosquitoes out of your home. Also advised is for residents to remove all discarded tires and other water-holding containers; be sure all roof gutters are clean and drain properly; clean and chlorinate pools, outdoor saunas and hot tubs; and change water in bird baths weekly. For more information, contact the health department at 330-821-7373.
