Sophia Wilhelmina Olga Fuchs was born on Sept. 1, 1921, on the family farm near Hanover, the daughter of Henry Stelling and his wife Sophia Lemke Stelling. She received her gift of eternal life on Friday, June 24, while a resident at Samaritan Springs in Beatrice. Sophie was 100 years, 9 months, and 24 days old.

She was baptized into the Christian faith on Sept. 11, 1921, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Hanover by the Rev. H. F. C. Grupe. Her sponsors were Sophia Lauterbach, Wilhelmina Lemke, and Olga Petsch.

She confessed her baptismal vows in the Rite of Confirmation on June 2, 1935, at Trinity Lutheran. Her Confirmation Pastor was the Rev. Dr. William Mahler. She graduated from the 8th Grade at Trinity Lutheran School.

On June 7, 1944, Sophie was married to Edgar Stohs, the wedding held at Trinity Lutheran by Rev. Theo Kauffeld. Their marriage was blessed with two children: Leroy and Marlys. Edgar passed away on March 30, 1950.

On Nov. 11, 1972, Sophie was married to Ernest Fuchs, the wedding held at Trinity Lutheran by Rev. Donald Behrens.

Sophie was a homemaker. She was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran, and a charter member of the LWML.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Sophia; by her husbands: Edgar and Ernest; by her brothers: Theo, Henry and Herman Stelling; by her sisters: Caroline Vieselmeyer and husband Louis, and infant sister Katherine; Stepdaughter: Pam Frauhiger and her husband Vern; Step-grandson Kenneth Frauhiger.

Sophie is survived by her children: Leroy Stohs and his wife Mary of Rosenberg, Texas; and Marlys Wagner and her husband Mike of Salina, Kansas. She is survived by her grandchildren: LeAnn Stohs; Heather Faraci and her husband Marc; Leroy Stohs and his wife Cindy; Kelli Stohs; James Wagner; Katheryn Ewert and her husband Nathan; Susan Moore and her husband LeLand. She is survived by 4 Great-Grandchildren: Hailie Broido and her husband Dylan; Marc Ryan Faraci, Gretchen Faraci. She is survived by 1 Step Great-Grand daughter: Alyssa Groves; by 1 step Great Great-Granddaughter: Isabella Groves; and by 1 Great Great-Grandson: Jackson Broido. Sophie is survived by her special “Grandchildren”: Eric Klaus and family; Lisa Lisec and family; Amanda McGuire and family, and Amber Klaus.

Sophie is finally survived by her nieces, nephews and her many friends.

We give thanks to God for all of the blessings that He granted to Sophie during her life. We especially give thanks for the greatest gift of God, the gift of eternal life that she now enjoys in the glory of Heaven.
