TO THE FORECAST, COMING UP. ERIN: THANK YOU. A SKI RESORT IN VERMONT HAS ANNOUNCED PLANS TO CHANGE ITS NAME LATER THIS SUMMER. SUICIDE SIX SKI RESORT IS LOCATED IN SOUTH POMFRET. IN A STATEMENT ON ITS WEBSITE , THE RESORT TEAM SAID IT "EMBRACES THE INCREASING AWARENESS SURROUNDING MENTAL HEALTH AND SHARES THE GROWING CONCERNS ABOUT THE INSENSITIVE NATURE OF THE HISTORICAL NAME." THE RESORT SAYS IT WILL SHARE THE NEW NAME IN THE COMING WEEK

A ski resort in Vermont has announced plans to change its name later this summer. Suicide Six Ski Resort is located in South Pomfret.In a statement on its website, the resort team said it "embraces the increasing awareness surrounding mental health and shares the growing concerns about the insensitive nature of the historical name."Resort officials said they will share the new name in the coming weeks. The current name originated from a comment made in the 1930s by a former Dartmouth College ski instructor who installed the rope tow.
