ONE OF THOSE NIGHTS: United Linen boys suffer DH loss at Sapulpa, look to bounce back

Every baseball season consists of a fair share of lopsided wins, lopsided losses and shutouts that cut both ways.

The Bartlesville United Linen Braves suffered through a couple of the latter outcomes in a Monday doubleheader against Sapulpa.

Sapulpa won, 8-0 and 4-0, to even the Braves record at 12-12 in 17-and-under league baseball.

The Braves had been off for nearly a week when they stepped into action against Sapulpa.

Following are game summaries.

———

Sapulpa 8, Braves 0

Sapulpa’s pitcher unleashed a 60-pitch gem, giving up just one hit and two walks and striking out one.

Carson Leach and Daygan West split throwing chores for the Braves.

West struck out three batters in 2.2 innings and gave up just one walk.

West also ripped the Braves only single.

Shawn Tate and Hunter Shea both earned a walk to provide the Braves two other baserunners.

The score was just 3-0 through two innings and 6-0 through four frames.

Sapulpa 4, Braves 0

Once again, the Braves just couldn’t thaw their bats out on the cool June evening.

Thatcher Parker pounded a double for the Braves only hit — and only baserunner.

Christian Hernandez turned in a strong pitching effort for Bartlesville — six hits scattered and five strikeouts during a 77-pitch odyssey.

The Braves will focus on getting back to their ball-battering ways — they’ve scored seven-or-more runs in 13 games — when they return back to action.
