More Waukee students may have to walk to class next semester
EXPECTATION IF WE PLAY OUR BEST AND WE’RE CAPABLE OF THAT. TISIA: MORE STUDENTS MAY HAVE TO WALK TO SCHOOL THIS FALL IN WAUKEE. THE WAUKEE SCHOOL BOARD JUST EXPANDED THE WALK ZONE FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS. NOW STUDENTS LIVING WITHIN THREE-QUARTERS OF A MILE OF THE SCHOOL WILL NOT GET BUS RIDES AND CANNOT PAY TO RIDE. THE LIMIT IS NOW ABOUT 1 MILE FOR SIXTH THROUGH 12TH-GRADERS. FOR OTHER STUDENTS LIVING OUTSIDE THAT RANGE, BUT CLOSE TO THEIR SCHOOLS THE PAY TO RIDE

More students may have to walk to school this upcoming year in Waukee.The Waukee School Board just expanded the "walk zone" for elementary students.Now students living within three-quarters of a mile of the school will not get bus rides and cannot pay to ride.Students in 6th through 12th grades living within one mile of the school will not get bus rides and cannot pay to ride.For other students living outside that range, but close to their schools, the "pay to ride" fees are also increasing.Other Waukee headlines:
