CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Governor Pritzker gave a powerful and emotional victory speech after easily winning the Democratic primary, and he quickly took aim at his Republican opponent this November.

Pritzker’s victory remarks began with him listing accomplishments, such as raising the state’s minimum wage, the legalization of recreational marijuana, and the state’s COVID response. Then, he criticized the Republican nominee, State Senator Darren Bailey, for positions on issues such as reproductive rights and guns, as well as getting the endorsement of former President Trump.

“Someone who seeks out and accepts the endorsement of a racist, misogynistic, homophobic, xenophobic, twice-impeached former president does not deserve to come anywhere near this state’s highest office,” Pritzker exclaimed.

Pritzker said that at stake in the governor’s race are the rights of women, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community.

“I’m a Democrat because of my mother. She was a woman ahead of her time, an activist for social and economic racial justice, marching for reproductive rights, the Equal Rights Amendment, and LGTBQ rights,” said Pritzker.
