To keep deer away, this group helped erect a seven-foot fence around the St. Mary's organic garden on the property of the Sisters, Servants Immaculate Heart of Mary. The deer were eating the 30 gardeners' produce causing some gardeners to give up on the plots. The workers photographed here include St. Mary's Organic Farm garden coordinator Bob Dluzen (straw hat center left) along with Jail Alternative Work Service (JAWS) members Nick Vanwasshenova, Zach Messer, Anthony Tunison and volunteers Dan Poirier, Dave Gelwicks, Paul Simonton and Bob Peven.

The IHM St. Mary's Organic Farm is on the campus of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary property at 610 W. Elm Ave.

Deer had been eating the produce that around 30 gardeners planted for the season, so a fence was placed around the garden to help deter the animals.

Organic farm garden coordinator Bob Dluzen  along with "JAWS" Jail Alternative Work Service members Nick Vanwasshenova, Zach Messer, Anthony Tunison and volunteers Dan Poirier, Dave Gelwicks, Paul Simonton, and Bob Peven, were among those who worked on placing a seven foot 70 X 250 foot fence around the garden space.

The seven-foot fence, which measured about 150 feet, was installed around St. Mary's Organic Farm garden.
Volunteer Bob Peven links the fence onto the post as the barrier was installed around St. Mary's Organic Farm garden behind the IHM this past weekend.
The lengthy fence installed recently surrounded St. Mary's Organic Farm garden behind the Motherhouse off E. Elm Ave.
