PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - One Pike County man is facing charges following an early morning police chase.

Officials with Pikeville Police tell WYMT just before 6 a.m. Wednesday, their officers received a report of the man trying to steal tools out of the back of a pickup truck.

When they found and confronted the suspect in the case, Travis Reynolds, 40, of Pikeville, he took off in his car, leading officers on a pursuit through Coal Run and onto Cowpen Road.

According to the arrest citation, when Reynolds turned around, he “tried to hit [the arresting officer] head on,” before crashing and fleeing on foot.

“While on Cowpen, the subject turned around began to come back out of the Cowpen area, toward 23. He had a small collision and disabled his vehicle on a bridge,” said PPD Officer Tommy Fouts. “Then jumped out and ran into a wooded area, where he just bedded down and was hiding from officers.”

Officers were then able to find and arrest Reynolds without further incident.
