4th of July fireworks, celebrations around Elmira, Corning, Hornell

Communities in Steuben, Allegany and Schuyler counties are poised to celebrate Independence Day 2022 with everything from parades and carnivals to live music and fireworks.

For the first time since 2019, Fourth of July events will take place without COVID-19 complications limiting the offerings.

In Allegany County, the Village of Andover is the place to be Independence Day fun and excitement, while Corning, Hornell and Hammondsport in Steuben County have holiday activities planned.

Here is the rundown:

Andover

The Andover Fourth of July Committee has a full day of activities planned to celebrate the nation’s 146th birthday. Highlights include the Grand Parade at 10 a.m. and fireworks at dusk.

The Andover Central School grounds is the place to be after the parade, with vendors, games and plenty of food available.

There will be live music throughout the day, including performances by “Off the Wagon” from 2 to 4 p.m., “Long Shot” from 5 to 7 p.m. and “Gear Box from 8 p.m. until dusk.

Andover Independence Day celebration concludes with 1,000 pounds of fireworks lighting up the sky over the village.

Hornell

Sponsored by Hornell Partners for Growth, 4th of July festivities in the Maple City begin with a parade downtown at noon. Participants line up in the Community Bank parking lot at 11 a.m.

A 4th of July float navigates Main Street during an Independence Day parade in the City of Hornell.

Following the parade, the action moves to Veterans Memorial Park at James Street for the Cruize’n Time Car Show from 1 to 4 and free activities for children and families. The fun includes End Zone Football, a two-lane slide, an obstacle course, the Paw Patrol Bouncer, sand art, potters and more.

There will be plenty of music with a concert lineup of “Iro Cosmic,” Matt Burns, “Unoriginal Gravity” and “Public Water Supply.”

It all leads up the a fireworks display at 10 p.m. in the park.

Corning

Riverfront Centennial Park provides plenty of great vantage points to view spectacular fireworks on July 4 at dusk. Local service clubs, including the Corning Kiwanis, Rotary and Lions, sponsor the show. Go to gafferdistrict.com for more things to do.

Elmira

Hammondsport

The Village of Hammondsport gets an early start on its Fourth of July celebration with the annual Fireman’s Carnival Friday and Saturday, July 1-2 in the park. Activities include a carnival, cornhole, fire truck rides, a parade and fireworks.

Here’s the rundown for both days.

July 1: The carnival opens at 6 p.m. Waterfall is at 7 p.m. and the Kids Bike Drawing is at 8 p.m. Enjoy live music from 7 to 11 p.m.

July 2: Cornhole registration is at noon followed by the competition beginning at 12:30 p.m. There will be fire truck rides from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the car show revs up at noon and runs to 4 p.m. The carnival opens at 1 p.m. The Fourth of July parade will step of at 6 p.m. Live music from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. and the fireworks display is scheduled to blast off at 10 p.m.

Watkins Glen

The Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce sponsors fireworks at Clute Park on Sunday, July 3. The show will start at approximately 9:45 p.m. The rain date is Friday, July 9.

Tioga County, New York

Candor July 4 Celebration: The fireworks are scheduled for Friday at dusk. Additional events: Carnival, 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday; car show, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at American Legion Post 907; Kiddie Parade, 5 p.m. Saturday at EMT Garage on Academy Street; Horse Pull, 1 p.m. Sunday at Side Hill Acres Goat Farm; parade, 10 a.m. Monday; chicken barbecue, 11 a.m. Monday at American Legion. Tioga County, Pennsylvania

Mansfield parade, fireworks display: A parade will be held in downtown Mansfield at 2 p.m. and fireworks will be held at dusk. The day will be filled with activities including tractor pulls and soapbox races. For more information, go to facebook.com/Mansfieldpajuly4thcelebration
