The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office has charged a couple in the death of their two-month-old daughter. The investigation began after deputies responded to the couple's home on Tuesday. Nickolas Shane Stephenson, 35, is charged with second-degree murder and negligent child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. Diandra Haleigh Fuhr-Farlow, 28, is charged with felonious child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.
PARENTS CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH DEATH OF 2-MONTH-OLD DAUGHTER, POLICE SAY

A home in the historic Montford neighborhood is seriously damaged in a fire. Asheville fire crews responded to the scene on Montford Avenue at around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday and were able to get the fire under control in less than an hour. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The demand for workers continues to be a battle for many employers. Mountain Area Workforce Development will host a $19 an Hour and Beyond job fair Wednesday. The event runs from 11 am-4 pm at the WNC Ag Center. More than 70 local employers are expected to take part.
