According to The Kennebec Journal, an Augusta man has been arrested after holding two Whitefield residents against their will. The KJ reports that Guy Ricketts, 43 of Augusta, is currently being held at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset on $10,000 cash bail.

Reports indicate the Ricketts was holding a woman and a man against their will in a Whitefield home. Eventually, Ricketts made the man leave with him and get into a car, still at gunpoint. It was at that time that the female victim was able to call police and alert them to the situation.

As police were responding from multiple agencies, a Maine State Trooper located the car that matched the description at Peaslee's Quick Stop on Route 17 in Jefferson. At that time, Ricketts told officers he had been kidnapped by the male victim, and the male victim told police he had been kidnapped by Ricketts.

Police were able to determine that Ricketts was the aggressor and took him into custody. They found a 22 caliber revolver in the passenger seat and say the barrel was pointing at the drivers seat.

When police searched Ricketts, they found what is believed to be narcotics (they will be tested), several different pills and a glass pipe, the Kennebec Journal reports.

Additionally, the woman who initially called the police also told them that Ricketts had fired a round into the mattress of the bed she had been sitting on during the altercation. She also reported that Ricketts had thrown needles at her as well.

Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy, Matthew Ryan, wrote in a report,

“While transporting Guy to the jail he made the excited utterance that he had shown up with a machete. He also made statements about wanting to go after cartel members. I later Mirandized him and asked him about this. He stated he did not say anything about a machete, and insisted (the woman and man) and cartel members were setting him up.”

Deputy Ryan also put in his report that Ricketts had told him he was a drug user, a drug dealer and suffered from 'several mental illnesses', the KJ reported.
