A Mountain Home man is accused of assaulting a woman and pointing a loaded gun at her in front of their children. Thirty-year-old Justin Watkins is in the Baxter County Detention Center with bond set at $25,575.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a Mountain Home police officer responded to a report of a domestic incident involving a firearm on Windbrook Street. Seven children ran from the back door of the residence and told the officer their parents were inside. The officer says he entered the residence after hearing loud screaming. A male, identified as Watkins, and a female were reportedly arguing in a bedroom.

The children allege Watkins physically struck the female, loaded a gun, pointed it at her and threatened her with bodily harm. Watkins was taken into custody, and a check with the Arkansas Crime Information Center reportedly showed he was not allowed to be in possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.

Watkins is facing one felony count each of aggravated assault, terroristic threatening and possession of a firearm by a certain person and seven misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
