Teen charged in deadly shooting at Taku Lake Park

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Anchorage Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting that happened at Taku Lake Park.

Teathloch Chan, 19, has been charged with first-degree murder.

Anchorage officers and medics with the Anchorage Fire Department responded to the scene, at 100 E. 76th Ave., at 11:19 p.m. Tuesday night, according to a community alert, where they found a man dead with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

According to police, there was some type of fight between two groups of people at the park and Chan assaulted another man.

The assault victim and a second man followed Chan into the nearby parking lot where Chan pulled out a gun and fatally shot the second man, police said.

Chan ran from the scene and was found hiding in a dumpster on King Arthur Circle by a K-9, according to police.

Police said the victim’s identity will be released following next of kin notification.
