Man and woman identified in Hopewell double homicide

HOPEWELL, Va. — Police have identified the man and woman who were killed early Tuesday morning on S. 13th Avenue and Buren Street as 33-year-old Jerrell Lynwood of Hopewell and 35-year-old Amanda Horner of Powhatan.

The victims were found around 2:20 a.m. with gunshot wounds in a crashed car. Police said both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Residents in the neighborhood where they were found said they heard gunshots before the car crashed into a parked SUV.

"The bodies just laid there," said Rudolph Roquemore, who lives on S. 13th Avenue, "One in the passenger seat, and one on the ground. Somebody's children."
