Nola Harvey

Nola “Susie” Marie Harvey, 92, of Kingwood, went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at her residence with family singing her into heaven. She was born on Feb. 20, 1930, in Marquess at home, daughter of the late Waitman Wise and Brittie Evelyn “Helsley” Huffman.

Pastor Susie’s mission in life was not only to bring music and joy to the world, but also to take everyone to Heaven with her by sharing God’s love and saving grace through her Mission Church ministry and her legacy of giving and caring for others. She truly lived the testimony of Colossians 3:23 woman by always “working as unto the Lord” in serving her church, her community, her friends, her family and everyone she met throughout her entire life.

Susie and her husband Junior, operated a dairy farm and raised their six children and family off the farm and the Harvey’s Country Store in Fellowsville for many years. She was Justice of the Peace and worked at 4 Corners Restaurant, Southern States in Grafton, Head Start in Howesville, Community Action, Morgan Foodland and the Kingwood Senior Center. Susie also worked for Rocco Marrara, took care of Mary, cleaned homes and babysat as needed. She loved traveling, covering 40 states and Japan, where she was a VFW officer entertaining veterans in the hospitals.

She is survived by her four daughters, Karen Sue Huffman and Danny Sr., of Kingwood, Sandra “Katie” Jennings and Randel, of Marquess, Rose Mary McNeill and David, of Newburg, and Paula Johnson and Roy, of Morgantown; one son, John Franklin Harvey and Anita, of Marquess; one daughter-in-law, Saundra Harvey, of Morgantown; Sandy Stevens, her best friend who was like a daughter, of Fairmont; 15 grandchildren, Danny Lynn Huffman Jr. and Lori, Heather Marie Henson and Ronnie, Rick Jennings and Angie, Brian Jennings and Devonna, Josh’s wife, Lisa Dawn Jennings, Amanda Kaye Martin and Josh, Timothy Randel Jennings, Carl David McNeill II and Michelle, Justin Dewey McNeill and Colleen, Miracle Grace Johnson, Chasity Ann Harvey, Cory Franklin Harvey and Leticia, Michael Carl Harvey Jr, Dr. Wade Vincent Harvey and Cassandra, Deanne Earl and Jeffrey, Nathaniel Harvey and Mallory and Tiffany Karr and Josh; 31 great-grandchildren, Collin, Bella, Ty, Chloe, Kendall, Tristan, Alexa, Mariah, Nicholas, Ian, Kinsley, Cameron, Madison, Aubrey, Adaline, James, Emma, Michael III, Calvin, Charles, Timothy, Isabel, Lily So-Eun, Lucas, Olivia, Brody, Alexis B., Jonah, Hadley, Raelynn and Alexis K; three great-great-grandchildren, Aria, Jaxon and Kailor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Susie is preceded in death by her husband, Franklin “Junior” Dewey Harvey Jr.; one son, Michael Carl Harvey Sr.; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Russell McNeill and Josh Brady Jennings; and her siblings, Franklin Huffman and Helen, Mabel Ritenour and Orville, Melba Riley and Charles and Martha Thorn and Charles.

Family and friends will be received at the Brighter Day Church, Denver, from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 1, with the Rev. Carl David McNeill II, Prophet Dr. Roy Johnson and Pastors Roger and Cheryl Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.
