Douglas Forest Protective Association reports crews have battled three fires so far around the county this week.
Two of them were powerline-related and one is under investigation.
Highway 38 Fire, Elkton
On Monday (June 27), around 5 p.m., DFPA, Kellogg Rural Fire District and Elkton Rural Fire Protection District crews responded to a reported grass fire located off Highway 38 in Elkton.
Once on scene, the fire was estimated to be 100th of an acre in size, caused by a downed powerline.
By 6:12 p.m., the fire was 100% trailed and mop up began.
At 7:33 p.m., the fire was 100% mopped up and cleared.
Ranchero Road Fire
Around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday (June 28), DFPA, Azalea Rural Fire Protection District and Glendale Rural Fire Protection District crews responded to an estimated 0.5-acre grass fire located at the 2000 block of Ranchero Road in Glendale.
The fire was assessed to be slow-moving and was suppressed by 1:30 p.m.
The fire was mopped up and cleared by 2 p.m.
The cause is currently under investigation.
Roberts Mountain Road Fire
Just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, DFPA, Douglas County Fire District 2 and Winston-Dillard Fire District crews responded to a natural cover fire located on the 900 block of Roberts Mountain Road, south of Roseburg.
Arriving on scene, crews discovered 2 fires, each estimated to be 1/2 acre in size.
Investigation revealed fires were ignition-related to powerlines.
Fire crews and equipment were to remain on scene Tuesday evening until secured.
