On June 16-18, the city of Montpelier was flooded with girls’ softball players. Forty-nine teams participated in the 24th annual Bear Lake Girls Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament.

Teams traveled to the valley from locations throughout Utah, Idaho and Wyoming.

Bear Lake had six local teams participate in the tournament, including a 16u (high school age), two 14u’s, two 12u’s, and one 10u.

Bear Lake girls had a successful weekend in their hometown tourney, with the following results:

The 12u team coached by Rachel Clausing took 3rd place in the Silver Bracket. The 14u team coached by Dan Fisher & Quin Pope took 1st place in the Bronze Bracket, and the 14u team coached by Casey Humpherys placed 2nd in the same bracket. The two teams played each other in the Bronze Bracket’s championship game.

Bear Lake’s 10u team, coached by Casey Humpherys and Bailey & Miranda Armstrong, took 2nd place in the Silver Bracket.

Many hours of work go into these tournaments, and local business owners appreciate the economic impact on the valley.

Montpelier will host its 14th annual Bear Lake Slugfest Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament, July 21-23. There are currently forty-eight teams registered for this tournament.
