Rhode Island Couple Found Shot To Death In Home With Their Three Kids Present
Courtney Huard and Eric Huard died by gunfire inside their home, with their three children nearby. The children were found unharmed.
A married couple has been found slain inside their Rhode Island home with their three children present.
Courtney Huard, 42, and Eric Huard, 51, were found dead Wednesday morning from apparent gunshot wounds at their home in Cumberland, the Cumberland Police Department said in a news release.
The pair was pronounced dead at the scene. Their three children were found alive in the home by police, uninjured.
It is not clear if police are looking for any suspects.
“The deaths remain under investigation at this time,” police wrote in their press release. “The Cumberland Police Department is actively investigating the facts and circumstances, with the assistance of the Rhode Island State Police and Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha’s office.”
They specified that “no additional details about the investigation are available at this time,” going further to state that a “preliminary investigation indicates that this is an isolated incident.”
“The investigation so far indicates that this was not a random act of violence,” they stated.
According to Eric Huard’s obituary, he'd worked as a lineman for National Grid for the past five years. He previously worked as the Aquatic Athletics Director at a YMCA and as a photographer at the Pawtucket Times.
“Eric will be remembered as a loving and devoted dad, husband, son and friend,” the obituary states, adding that he “was a passionate New England Patriots fan.”
Courtney Huard’s obituary describes her as the owner of True Self Nutrition LLC of Cumberland and Providence.
“Her career was more than just her job, but it was her true calling,” it states. It goes on to call her “a loving and dedicated mother.”
“Those in the community would always see her on the sidelines of her children's events with a bright smile cheering them on,” the obituary states. “She also enjoyed riding her bike, running and walking her dogs Luna and Pearl. Those who love her will always remember her love for her family, her gift to talk, especially to her close friends and family on the phone.”
