PEORIA, Ill. — A shooting reported Tuesday afternoon is confirmed to have been deadly and police are asking the public’s help in finding the suspect.
Peoria Police say officers got a shots-fired call in a central Peoria residential neighborhood near McClure Avenue and Broadway Street around 4:10 p.m. Tuesday.
They found an adult male shot and badly wounded while a suspect had reportedly fled.
The victim later died at the hospital, following extensive lifesaving efforts both by police officers and responding EMT’s.
Police say their prime suspect in the case is 41-year-old Rev Blakes.
PPD was asking the public for help in locating Blakes, but urging caution as Blakes was considered armed and dangerous.
Information regarding the victim, as well as the precise manner and cause of death, will be released by the Peoria County Coroner.
This would count as the 10th homicide this year in Peoria.

PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police say one man is in critical condition following a late-afternoon shooting.
Police say officers were called to West McClure, inbetween Broadway and Isabell Avenues, just after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday on reports of a man shot several several times.
The victim is hospitalized.
Police say no arrests have been made, and no suspect information is available.
