DREW. YEAH BEGIN TO SPEND THAT WAY FOR THE LAST SEVERAL HOURS THIS ALL TAKING PLACE IN THE EIGHT O’CLOCK HOUR RIGHT NOW A HEAVY POLICE PRESENCE STILL ON SCENE THAT INCLUDES BOTH LMPD AND KSP NOW. HERE’S WHAT WE KNOW AT THIS POINT WITNESSES. TELL US A CAR WAS SEEN SHOOTING AT POLICE DURING A CHASE ALONG HERE TONIGHT BETWEEN THE GENE SNYDER AND ASHBY LANE NOW ACCORDING TO POLICE IN NASHVILLE AT SOME POINT KSP EXCHANGE GUNFIRE WITH THE SUSPECT THAT SUSPECT DIED NOW HERE YOU CAN SEE A CAR THAT HAD CRASH. HAD ITS WINDOWS EITHER SHOT OR BUSTED OUT. WE SPOKE TO ONE WITNESS WHO SAW IT ALL GO DOWN. AS I WAS SET AN ATTORNEY INTO ARBY’S A CAR PASSED BY AND GOD WAS HANGING OUT THE DRIVER’S SIDE SHOOTING BACK TOWARDS THE STATE POLICE. I WOULD SAY THEY WAS PROBABLY 15 TO 20 ROUNDS COMING OUT OF THAT CAR AS I WAS SETTING UP IN THE TURNING LANE TO GET INTO ARBY’S. NOW METRO NASHVILLE POLICE TELLS US THE SUSPECT KILLED IS SAMUEL QUINTON EDWARDS WHO HAS WANTED FOR SHOOTING AND INJURING A POLICE OFFICER LAST NIGHT IN HENDERSONVILLE, TENNESSEE INVESTIGATORS. SAY HE TOOK OFF ARMED WITH AT LEAST TWO GUNS AND HAD BEEN ON THE RUN EVER SINCE NOW WHAT ALL LED UP TO WHAT HAPPENED HERE TONIGHT. THAT IS STILL UNCLEAR LMPD NOT COMMENTING ON THIS. Nashville authorities say a man wanted in connection with a shooting involving a Tennessee police officer has been killed in Valley Station Tuesday evening.Metro Nashville Police say 34-year-old Samuel Edwards is accused of shooting a Hendersonville police officer Monday night. Investigators say he took off armed with at least two guns and had been on the run ever since.According to authorities, Edwards allegedly stole a pickup truck as he fled from police, but Nashville police did not say where they believed he was heading.Around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nashville police confirmed via Twitter that Edwards had been killed during an exchange of gunfire with Kentucky State Police in Louisville. A large police presence was seen along Dixie Highway near Dixie Garden Drive, but Louisville Metro Police did not confirm if that scene was related to the officer-involved shooting.LMPD SWAT was on scene, and witnesses told WLKY they saw two men in a car shooting at police during the chase down Dixie Highway.In the video player above, you can see a car that crashed and had its windows either shot or busted out.KSP is handling the investigation.This is a developing story.
