Detectives with the Stillwater Police Department (SPD) Special Projects Unit seized a large amount of illegal drugs and weapons after a car pursuit on Friday.
Police attempted to pull over the driver of a white Chevrolet Equinox for a traffic violation near Doty and Arrington, which led to multiple arrests and seizure of illegal drugs and weapons.
The driver of the vehicle was later identified as Dakota Gottfried. Police say as they pursued Gottfried, she began throwing multiple bags of illegal narcotics out her vehicle window. Stillwater police officers responded to the area soon after and took possession of the drugs that had been thrown out of Gottfried's car.
Officers say Gottfried ended up stopping just east of an intersection at Perkins Rd. She was taken into custody and officers said multiple illegal drugs were found in her possession and seized by officers.
Throughout the investigation, detectives conducted two separate search warrants based off of the traffic stop with Gottfried and arrested four other suspects on several drug and weapon charges. The four suspects arrested include Anita Smith, William Smith, Ashley Russell and Jeremy Snyder.
On Saturday, Gottfried was transported to Payne County Jail for processing. While going through the booking process, an X-ray machine was used per normal procedure. Some jailers said they noticed that Gottfried had what appeared to be illegal contraband inside of her body cavity. SPD took Gottfried to Stillwater Medical Center, where they seized 91 ecstasy pills and a number of other pills.
Gottfried admitted to police that during the pursuit, she had shoved the drugs inside of herself.
Police say Gottfried had gotten out of jail just prior to the June 24 incident, leaving the prison on June 8 after she served three years for trafficking. She now faces charges of trafficking in illegal drugs, eluding police officers and carrying a weapon, drugs or alcohol into a jail.
