Dr. Gerald Brouder, Columbia College's longest-serving President died last week.
Brouder's family, friends, and colleagues paid their respects at his memorial on Tuesday, June 28, 2022.
The Columbia College safety officials escorted Dr. Brouder's funeral procession around the campus as loved ones observed.
He was the second president in the college's history to be given the honorary title of emeritus.
"Dr. Gerald Brouder, was are sixteenth president at Columbia College for eighteen years. A wonderful man, he inspired civility and respect on campus. He cared deeply about students, facilities, and staff. He was the type of man that when you see him on campus and he would remember your name and talk to you. He really just showed kindness to everyone," said Dave Roberts, Dean of Student Affairs.
Brouder's served in the military in the medical corp and became the first male teacher at the MU School of Nursing before serving the students at Columbia College. His passion for healthcare drove him to help build a state-of-the-art science building at Columbia College.
The 53,000 square foot facility was named for him, as a reminder of his influence and vision for students.
The family asked if anyone would like to memorialize Dr. Brouder make a contribution to Columbia College or Father Tolton High School in Columbia.
