Harvey Bruce Higley

1940 – 2022

Harvey Bruce Higley passed away in his home at the age of 81 on Thursday, June 23, 2022 of heart failure.

Bruce was born July 23, 1940 in Soda Springs, Idaho to John Warren Higley and Martha Lovenia Stones. Growing up he developed a strong work ethic that shaped his entire life. His mother passed away when he was 13 years old. He was active in Boy Scouts which continued for most of his life. He served a mission to New Zealand South, where he developed a life-long love for the Maori people.

He met his wife, Jill, and they married in the Manti Temple. After completing his education at BYU, he worked for and retired from his beloved University. Bruce took very seriously his service to others in both the community and through his faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was unwavering in his testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ to the very end.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jill Eastmond Higley, and their 6 children and spouses: Alan (Connie) Higley, Kevin (Marianne) Higley, Todd (Sara) Higley, Lisalyn (Dana) Larsen, Janalyn (Budge) Tungate, Kristopher (Melissa) Higley. Also surviving are his 26 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his step-mother, Margarete Riecker Higley, his sister, Glenna Welch, his half-brother, Darwin Higley, and his great-granddaughter, Wendy Higley.

A viewing will be held Thursday, June 30th, from 6-8pm at the Orem Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah. Funeral services will begin Friday, July 1st, at 11am, with a short viewing prior from 9:30-10:30am at the Hillcrest Stake Center, 1450 South 800 East, Orem, Utah.
