HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville Police told News 19 that three separate wrecks stalled eastbound traffic on I-565 Tuesday afternoon.

As of 5:30 p.m., just one eastbound lane of I-565 was open. Police said the closure was between 14th Street and the Triana Blvd. overpass. Lanes were not fully reopened until later in the evening.

A spokesperson for Huntsville Police told News 19 that a three-vehicle accident happened just west of Exit 19A. In that crash, one person was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The two other people were reported to have non-life-threatening injuries and were not taken to the hospital.

HEMSI spokesman Don Webster said the second wreck involved two vehicles near mile marker 15. He said one person was taken to Huntsville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No injuries were reported as a result of the third two-vehicle wreck at mile marker 16.
