CLALLAM COUNTY – Fireworks officially went on sale today, and this will be Clallam County’s first Fourth of July celebrated under the new fireworks ordinance, which went into effect last October, one year after its passage.

Beginning today, fireworks west of the Elwha River will still be regulated by statewide rules that we’re all used to (see below).

In all areas east of the river, fireworks will now only be allowed from 9 a.m. until midnight on July 4. Discharging fireworks within the city limits of Port Angeles and Sequim is still prohibited, though both cities will be hosting public fireworks displays on the Fourth of July.

By the way, The Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office is reminding residents that items such as firecrackers, bottle rockets, skyrockets, and missiles are illegal to sell, possess, and/or discharge within the state. However, these items are federally legal and are available for sale or discharge on some designated tribal lands.
