2nd suspect arrested in Tallahassee McDonald’s shooting, TPD says
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The Tallahassee Police Department said it has arrested two men in connection to the June 11 shooting at a McDonald’s on South Monroe Street.
The shooting happened on the street’s 2800 block around 3 p.m. that day, according to TPD.
TPD’s investigation found a fight had started inside the McDonald’s among two groups of three men, and as it escalated, a man from each group pulled out guns and started shooting at each other.
One of the shooters, Oronde Dixon Jr., was outside of the business as he fired shots at the group inside, according to the arrest affidavit. The other shooter, Dominick McBride, shot Dixon, and Dixon then ran across the street to the Circle K, dropping his gun in the process, the affidavit states.
Dixon suffered a serious, but non-life-threatening, gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital in the area for treatment, the initial police report said. McBride also shot at an unarmed man, who a witness said was the target of the shooting, as he ran away from the McDonald’s, but he missed him, according to the court document.
TPD used video footage from the businesses along with physical evidence to identify the suspects. The affidavit says police found a total of 14 cartridge casings: six of them were inside the McDonald’s, while eight were found outside the business.
Multiple witnesses, including a worker at the McDonald’s, told police McBride was employed there, the affidavit states. Another witness says they saw Dixon shoot at the McDonald’s before dropping his gun and running to the Circle K.
McBride, 18, was arrested for attempted first-degree murder and carrying a concealed firearm without a license, the press release says. TPD says Dixon, 20 was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed firearm without a license.
