With the Fourth of July weekend coming up, lakes are expected to get busy. One family who plans on being out on Beaver Lake this weekend is finding a new way to save on gas while on the boat. “With the gas prices as high as they are what we'd like to do is take our boat out of the water, take it into town and fill it,” boat owner Jeff Durocher said. “Usually, it saves us 150 to $200.” Gas prices on the water at marinas can be up to one to two dollars more than at the pumps on land. “When you've got 30 or 40 gallons to fill up makes it makes a difference,” Durocher said. Durocher says that a slip at the marina makes it easier to get the boat in and out of the water. “It is a little inconvenient but at the same time it's just kind of all part of all part of the boating experience,” Durocher said. Only one beach is currently closed on Beaver Lake due to E Coli levels. The Dam Site lake area was tested on Tuesday morning and could be back open by the weekend.
