Applebees and Fuelco Give Back to Suffering Americans on July 4th in Westchester

Declare your independence from ultra-high gas prices this holiday weekend with free gas for veterans and below-cost gasoline for app users at Fuelco-Foodsmart’s Valhalla and Yonkers stations.

“I recognize that the primary focus of the Fourth of July is the anniversary of the 1776 Declaration of Independence, but this independence would not be sustained without the sacrifices of our veterans. We want to remind the public about veterans’ sacrifices and thank them, as well as those who support them” said Fuelco-Foodsmart president Adam Musa. “One of the best resources Westchester County veterans have is the Westchester Veterans Service Agency, but unfortunately many veterans don’t know that the agency is available to them. We hope that our efforts raise awareness about all the agency has to offer.”

The promotion starts Friday, July 1 at 6 a.m. and it runs through Monday, July 4. Customers who use Fuelco’s app will enjoy a below-cost discount on regular unleaded gasoline.

Veterans with valid Veterans Administration identification cards can receive $5 in free gas by presenting their cards to the gas stations’ clerks. Both Fuelco-Foodsmart locations will be equipped with material to educate veterans who would like more information about the Westchester Veteran’s Service Agency, whose primary focus is to ensure that all veterans and their dependents receive the maximum benefits from the federal Department of Veterans Affairs and other government agencies.

According to GasBuddy.com, Fuelco-Foodsmart consistently has the lowest gas prices compared to its competitors. All customers can download the Fuelco app from the company’s website to receive everyday low prices on gas and healthy alternative foods.

Fuelco-Foodsmart’s locations are at 651 Bronx River Road in Yonkers and 85 Virginia Road in Valhalla.

Coupled with its Foodsmart convenience store, the Fuelco service station combines deeply discounted gasoline and a variety of organic, gluten-free, and fair-trade snacks, along with convenience store staples—think Trader Joe’s with gas pumps.

Musa’s company has over 20 gasoline station locations, mostly located in Westchester County. Musa and team are working with the major oil brands representing their other sites (ExxonMobil, Shell, BP, Gulf, etc.) to develop pricing/payment capabilities that allow for the same community- and veterans-focused promotions as Fuelco-Foodsmart.

Fuelco-Foodsmart has a history of giving back to the community. Last year the company donated $10,000 to the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and raffled a Camaro to a resident of Ardsley, N.Y.
