To the Editor:
Spending time on a beautiful Friday evening at Stotzky Park, I was thoroughly impressed with the crowds watching baseball, softball, barbecues, and plenty of kids running around having a wonderful time.
My son was busy playing in the playground with friends and while he’s 7 and oblivious to its slow demise, I wasn’t. I remember when the playground was redone and it was fantastic but slowly the grounds are falling apart. The splash pad has a giant puddle that doesn’t drain and looks like a mosquito breeding ground — and who knows what fungus growing in it. The mulch is overgrown with weeds and kids that need a sip of water can’t because the water fountain doesn’t work and the walkway paths through the playground are completely impassable and are an accident waiting to happen for a toddler riding a scooter or bicycle.
As a Supreme Court employee that watches the town continuously lose court cases, I’d redo them quickly. The playground that has by far the most use in this big town and serves the underprivileged more than others, is being ignored.
