“Eat sh*t Pitt,” the Plum native and West Virginia kicking alum told Pickett on his show to begin the interview.

Every classy, Pickett just tipped his white Pitt hat at McAfee.

While that rivalry between the Panthers and Mountaineers will continue forever, whether they play each other or not, but McAfee has nothing but respect for what Pickett has done at Pitt.

“You were f**king great to watch at the University of Pitt,” said McAfee. “All my friends that went to Pitt, massive fans of yours when you got drafted to the Steelers, everybody went bananas.”

“The amount of success he had at the University of Pittsburgh is unprecedented,” said McAfee, pointing out all the records that Pickett now holds over Hall of Famer Dan Marino.

As is typical with a McAfee interview, there is a lot of great questions from Pat and the group, but there are also those questions you won’t hear anywhere else.

A member of McAfee’s crew Tone Digz wanted to know if Pickett will have a similar relationship with Ben Roethlisberger, the way Mario Lemieux did with Sidney Crosby when he was drafted by the Penguins.

“Have you thought about living with seven for a couple years, just to gather some knowledge . . . has he reached out to you at all?” asked Digz?

“He’s reached out, he hasn’t offered me the guest room yet, maybe I can touch base again and see if that’s up for grab, but no as of yet,” said Pickett with a smile on his face.

While it’s not known who will be the Steelers starter when the season starts, with it looking like it will be Mitch Trubisky, but if Pickett’s first start is during a night game, McAfee says he and his crew will be there in person.

McAfee also congratulated for any partying Pickett did on the South Side of Pittsburgh during his career.

“You survived South Side for five years, at the University of Pittsburgh . . . those of us that have been there know it’s not easy,” said McAfee

You can watch Pickett talk about his relationship with Mitch Trubisky and Dan Marino along with getting ready for his rookie season.

Pitt and West Virginia renew the Backyard Brawl this season, when the Panthers host the Mountaineers to start the 2022 season.
