CRESTVIEW, Fla. -- A Crestview mother found a way to celebrate her daughter's birthday while also helping raise research funds for her daughter's rare genetic condition.
Grace Talbert's daughter, Carson, will host the "Cakes for Carson" fundraiser for the second year in a row.
"Cakes for Carson" is a fundraiser that helps raise money for research into Talbert's daughter's rare genetic condition, Homocystinuria.
Homocystinuria is a rare but potentially serious inherited condition that causes the body the inability to process amino acid methionine.
During the fundraiser, those who donate will nominate a person to smash a cake in their face. Those people can then nominate another person to push the cause forward.
The fundraiser begins Thursday on Carson's 2nd birthday.
