GLENN COUNTY, Calif. - Glenn County Sheriff Richard Warren was hospitalized following a crash in Butte County on Sunday, according to the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office.

Enloe Medical Center told Action News Now that Warren is in serious condition.

The sheriff’s office said Warren, 55, is being treated for his injuries at the hospital and Undersheriff Jason Dahl has assumed the role of Acting Sheriff until Warren returns to the office.

The crash happened while Warren was off duty, according to deputies.

At about 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, the California Highway Patrol says Warren went through a right-hand curve, left the roadway and collided with a fence in the area of Ord Ferry Road, just west of Emily Way.

Warren was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained possible serious injuries, the CHP said.

Distracted driving or DUI was not a factor in the crash, according to the CHP.
