Open Letter to Raton From Code Enforcement Officer George Riley

First, I would like to thank The Lord for this rain and thank everyone for participating in the clean-up of our city. I hope as you travel around the city you see someone doing their part to make a difference.

I travel through our neighborhoods daily and am amazed at the good things I see happening.

Second, with that comes the weeds and tall grass that needs to be mowed and trimmed. The tall weeds and shrubs catch every piece of trash that blows in the wind.

In my travels through our city, I see bear-proof dumpsters with the lids left open and the ravens strew trash everywhere please do your part to see that the dumpster lids are closed it will help stop the trash from blowing around town.

The third thing we see is illegal dumping. People dump their used mattresses and furniture in our alleys and then all the neighbors must live with the unsightly mess. Please help us by taking your things to the transfer station on Hereford Ave.

Again, I think we live in a beautiful city and with a little help from everyone we will be the prettiest town in Northeast New Mexico.

Thanks,

George Riley
