One man injured after wreck involving 18-wheeler in Deweyville, investigation underway

The crash happened on Tuesday morning on State Highway 87 at the intersection of County Road 3075.

DEWEYVILLE, Texas — Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating after a crash involving a commercial vehicle left a 51-year-old man injured.

The crash happened on Tuesday morning on State Highway 87 at the intersection of County Road 3075. A 2020 Peterbilt truck tractor was travelling north around 10:30 a.m.

A 2011 Kia passenger car was travelling behind the 18-wheeler. Troopers believe the driver of the Kia was speeding while making a left turn and hit the back of the 18-wheeler.

The driver of the Peterbilt was not injured. The driver of the Kia was taken  to an area hospital for treatment.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.

From a Texas DPS release: 

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a crash involving a commercial motor vehicle on state Highway 87, at the intersection of County Road 3075, that occurred this morning, June 28, 2022.

The preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 10:35 a.m., a 2020 Peterbilt truck tractor was traveling north, followed by a 2011 Kia passenger car. It is reported that the passenger car failed to control its speed when the truck tractor slowed to make a left turn, at which point it struck the rear of the truck tractor.

The driver of the truck tractor was not injured. The driver of the passenger car was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

This investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time
