60 in 60: #47 Utah State’s Alfred Edwards (Offensive Lineman)

SALT LAKE CITY – The countdown for Hans & Scotty’s 60 in 60 is on. Coming in at #47 is Utah State’s Alfred Edwards (OL).
Throughout the summer Hans & Scotty are counting down the top 60 college football players in the state of Utah as voted on by the media (and a fan ballot).
“He’s a guy that you don’t hear a lot about but that’s a good thing,” Utah State head coach Blake Anderson said of his offensive lineman. “He protects the quarterbacks’ blind side, he’s kind of the granddaddy in the room, quiet but confident. He has the length and the skillset to protect on the edge. He’s a great guy to have on the left side and he gives you confidence that you normally don’t get.”
Utah State’s Alfred Edwards
Edwards is a senior from Redlands, California.
He joined the Aggies in 2017, using his redshirt as a freshman. As a redshirt freshman in 2018, Edwards played all 12 games with 11 starts at left tackle with a total of 662 offensive snaps. As a sophomore in 2018, Edwards played 12 games at left tackle with 764 offensive snaps.
During the 2020 COVID-19 season, Edwards started all six games at left tackle, playing in 275 offensive snaps. This past season, he earned All-Mountain West honorable mention, while starting all 13 games at left tackle, missing one game due to injury.
Edwards is the seventh Utah State player to appear in the top 60 in 60 in 2022, joining Hale Motu’apuaka (No. 59), Daniel Grzesiak (No. 57), Patrick Joyner Jr. (No. 56), Gurvan Hall Jr. (No. 55), Ajani Carter (No. 53) and Brian Cobbs (No. 48).
